Career Opportunities for Veterinary Nurses

After qualifying, there are many career pathways for veterinary nurses!

Working overseas - the UK Veterinary Nurse qualification is highly respected outside of the UK and can lead to many working or volunteer roles within practices or charities, and even with wild animals such as Chimpanzees and Bears!

Clinical Coach - Student Veterinary Nurses train alongside a qualified member of staff, usually an RVN, to teach, support and mentor the SVN. It is a very rewarding role and helps keep your knowledge up to date!

Trust Your Vet Campaign

Back in April, the government launched a campaign urging pet owners to trust their vets on the use of antibiotics.

Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest global threats with estimates suggesting it could be responsible for ten million deaths per year by 2050 - and cost the global economy $100 trillion.

Following a government strategy to tackle AMR launched in 2013, antibiotic use in livestock has fallen to an all-time low, but attention must now address antibiotic use in our pets.

The Big Flea Project

We have been invited to participate in the largest ever UK flea research project to advance understanding and treatment of the parasite.

The Big Flea Project, from MSD Animal Health, is the largest piece of academic research in the UK to examine fleas:-

To take the fight to fleas, we want to know:

1) How common each flea species is in the UK?

2) Which diseases are carried by these fleas?

3) How many fleas are carrying disease?
