PONY TOP TIPS – WINTER FEEDING

  • Avoid overfeeding (ponies are adapted to do well on very little)
  • Feed plenty of fibre with minimal ‘hard feed’
  • Feed little and often – ponies are designed as ‘trickle feeders’
  • Make any changes in diet gradually to allow the friendly bacteria in the gut time to adjust
  • Do not feed mouldy or frosted / frozen food – they can cause colic
  • Store food under cover and away from rats and mischievous ponies

Romany Red is a 13 year old Gelding who lives near Crediton with his family.  He enjoys a variety of pony club activities but is particularly good at jumping.

The Royal Veterinary College, University of London (RVC) has developed the first ever app that allows dog owners to monitor and improve the lives of pets that suffer from epilepsy.

Epilepsy is the most common long-term neurological disorder seen in dogs affecting around 50,000 canines in the UK.  Now, the ‘RVC Pet Epilepsy Tracker’, lets dog owners record seizure activity and medication requirements on their mobile phone and tablet devices for the first time.

  1. Feed the right diet to your rabbit.  Grass and hay are the single most important element to your rabbits diet.
     
  2. Offer tough fibrous tree branches, leaves and twigs. These can help your rabbits teeth stay healthy. These MUST NOT be chemically treated and be rabbit-safe.
