Would you like to join us on the Open Day for Gold Cup winner Neil Baker? St Boniface are providing transport on the day leaving the Crediton Railway Station car park at 9am promptly for the 10.30am start.
We have reserved free tickets and transport for the first 12 farmers to request this so act fast!
Car parking at the St Boniface Vet Clinic itself will be very limited,
hence the Railway Station (free) car park meeting point!
Neil runs a very large herd with excellent standards of production, health and welfare. He has titled the day 'Realistic Financial Gains From Simple Management Changes'. Undoubtedly there will be something to take away from the experience for all our dairy clients. Here is a bit of info from the RABDF website:
Neil Baker's farm in Haselbury Plucknett is now a 4th generation family company. They have been dairy farming since 1932 and have had a pedigree herd since 1936.
They expanded the herd in 2005, having an 80pt Rotary parlour installed. This was further followed by a new high yield heifer barn in 2010 and calf facilities in 2013 with all barn extensions reaching completion in 2014.
The herd expanded to 1,830 in 2015 and now produces 57,000 litres of milk per day . Last year also saw work begin on the new Anaerobic Digester which is still very much ongoing.
Neil says his plans are to double the herd size again but without any increase in disease cases. This means he intends to halve the % incidence of problems (lameness, mastitis, LDA etc) on his farm....starting from an exceptionally low incidence as things stand this is real fighting talk from Neil!
Please do join us, the presentations on farm and opportunity to chat in the bus during the journeys will be time well spent.
Due to finish 3pm so should be back in Crediton no later than 4.30pm.
