This year we are providing a set of three Winter meetings, with each one being held twice in different locations.

The first in this series focuses on fertility, the effects of transition cow management and treatments for problem cows.  This evening meeting is coming to a pub near you in January and will be held by Ruth and Ingrid.

Our second round of meetings follows on from the fertility meeting and looks at Calf Rearing.  This meeting will be held in conjunction with Trouw Nutrition, as the producers of Milkivit LifeStart milk powders.

LifeStart is part of a company based in the Netherlands (Nutreco) which, amongst other things, does a great deal of research into ruminant nutrition.  Any milk powder with the LifeStart logo on has been scientifically proven to support enhanced growth rates in calves.  These meetings will be held as farm walks during the day, so that we can see and assess the whole calf rearing process. Danielle and Chris will run these in February.

Once your calves are all achieving excellent growth rates and reaching their full genetic potential, it is time to start talking Genomics and Advanced Breeding, bringing us nicely onto the topic for our third meeting.

As a part of XL Vets, with Raft solutions, we are offering the Zoetis Clarifide genomics service to you.  This test provides fantastic insight into how to screen the genetic potential of your herd and to plan subsequent breeding programmes. Tony and Danielle will be holding these evening meetings in March.
