Focus on St Boniface Vets

It takes five long years at Vet School to become a vet but the learning doesn't stop there!

Every day in practice yields something new - so the job is a constant learning curve. Here at St Boniface Vets we are passionate about further study and personal development. Each member of the team is encouraged to develop their particular interests and work towards additional qualifications. This enables us to provide our clients and their animals with the most up-to-date care.

Our progressive large animal team is headed up by Tony Kemmish. Tony holds a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction and has helped pioneer the use of IVF techniques in cattle. We are proud to be one of only four practices in Great Britain with the ability to provide this service. The team boasts one other Diploma holder as well as other vets studying for advanced farm animal certificates. The vets work closely with clients; providing a bespoke production animal service as well as innovative, advanced breeding techniques.

I am the Small Animal Director, regularly performing keyhole neutering, here at the practice. This minimally invasive technique means greatly reduced post operative discomfort and a quicker return to exercise. It is extremely popular with both our own clients and those from the surrounding area. Jane White also routinely sees clients from the other practices locally who wish to make use of our physiotherapy and rehabilitation service. She is able to offer hydrotherapy and acupuncture and tailor made treatment plans.

We are very pleased to announce that Nina Hamilton recently achieved her Advanced practitioner certificate in Opthalmology (eyes). This is one of the highest qualifications a vet in general practice can achieve and is no mean feat! Vets, Anna and Emma are also currently studying for their AVP in Dermatology (skin) and Medicine.

Since taking over Wolfgar at Cheriton Bishop and Tedburn St Mary we are fortunate to have grown our equine team and facilities. Led by Clare Smith we now offer a full compliment of equine services from routine preventative medicine, vettings and lameness work ups to surgical procedures and hospitalisation. Clare is also FEI approved, AVRS accredited and can perform measurements for the JMB. She has also recently undertaken emergency and rescue training with the Fire Service.

No matter what your concern, farm, pets or equine, we are here for you 24/7.

Once again we are exhibiting at the local agricultural shows this summer so do come and say hello and enjoy our hospitality. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

If you aren't able to see us at one of the shows, please have a look at our website; where you can sign up to our newsletters or like us on "Facebook". Or, feel free to pop in anytime, we are happy to chat and show you around.

We look forward to seeing you very soon!
