Safe Sealing and Top Tips for the Dry Cow - 28th June

We are running this workshop on the safe use of dry cow therapy in conjunction with Zoetis.

Course content

Due to the increased usage of selective dry cow therapy, we thought we should focus on the correct application of Orbeseal. We will do this by going through the correct procedures and letting everyone have a go at disinfecting and administering the sealant on real udders (albeit from the slaughter house).

We can then cut into the teat afterwards to see where it has gone.

In order to check how good the teat preparation has been, we will be also be using special gels.

There will a discussion on selective dry cow therapy and dry cow management, from an udder health point of view.

We plan to follow this meeting up with another dry cow management workshop (likely a farm walk) that focuses more on metabolic diseases and BCS scoring etc.

It will be a great opportunity to check if you are using the best technique possible and to see where you are actually depositing it.

We will also discuss other management factors that have an impact on udder health on your farm.

This is great for people that have been reluctant to use selective dry cow therapy on a big scale, or for novices to Orbeseal, but also for seasoned users.

Each attendee, will receive a certificate, demonstrating that you have been taught how to properly use Orbeseal, which is often a requiement for milk contracts.

This course will cost £25 + VAT per person and includes lunch.

We aim to start around 10am.

Please, let us know asap if you are able to join us, to enable organisation of enough udders and confirm with Zoetis.
