Embryo Transfer and IVF

St Boniface Vets are proud to offer a complete bovine embryo transfer service, to maximise the breeding efficiency and genetic merit of your herd.
This can be achieved by using one of the following methods:
MOET (Multiple Ovulation Embryo Transfer)
A non-surgical, on farm, procedure performed on your best animals to produce 5 embryos on average. These can then be transferred to recipients fresh, on the same day, or frozen
for future use.
IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation)/OPU (Ovum pick-up)
We work in conjunction with ActivfET and Boviteq, a Canadian company, at the forefront of this technology. This enables us to achieve the best results possible. Similar results can be achieved to that of MOET, but on a much shorter time scale; collections can be performed fortnightly. The procedure is again non-surgical, but to gain the best results, should be performed at our temperature-controlled facility in Mid-Devon.

Other Benefits of IVF/OPU include:
Juvenile heifers and pregnant donors in the first trimester can be collected, as can donors with a range of reproductive disorders. All fertilisation can be achieved using a single straw of semen, compared to two or three with MOET. A large number of offspring, with a variety of sires can be generated in a short time frame due to the frequency of collection.
